NATO's policy is unchanged - Stoltenberg denies Poland targeting missiles over Ukraine
NATO's policy on participation in Ukraine's war with Russia is unchanged. This also applies to the issue of Poland shooting down missiles over Ukrainian territory, states NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"NATO will support Ukraine, and we have now increased our support, including through various air defense systems. Of course, the F-16 is also important in this context. We will also provide more ground-based air defense systems and ammunition for those that are available," Stoltenberg said.
However, answering the question about Poland being able to shoot down Russian missiles over the territory of Ukraine, the Secretary General said that this would not happen.
"NATO's policy is unchanged - we will not participate in this conflict, we will not become part of it," he emphasized.
Poland could shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine and Poland are working together on a mechanism for Polish air defense to shoot down Russian missiles and drones over Ukrainian territory.
Later this week, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Warsaw would consult with its NATO allies and seek their consent before attempting to shoot down any Russian missiles.
