"NATO takes these incidents very seriously. We remain vigilant and ready to defend every inch of NATO territory," the spokesperson emphasized.
Russian drones violated Lithuanian airspace
On July 28, a Russian combat drone resembling a Shahed was spotted over Lithuania. The incident occurred on the same night that Russia launched drone attacks against Ukraine.
On Friday, August 1, another Russian drone was discovered at a training ground in Lithuania. The UAV had entered Lithuanian airspace from Belarusian territory.
In response, Lithuania’s Foreign and Defense ministers sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, calling for immediate measures to strengthen air defense capabilities in Lithuania and to accelerate the full implementation of the rotational air defense model.
