Russian President Vladimir Putin has lost too many soldiers and money in the war against Ukraine, and pressure must now be increased, said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a press conference after the Coalition of the Willing meeting.

Rutte noted that in Ukraine, Putin is achieving "marginal gains" at a huge cost. Hundreds of thousands of Russians are dying in Putin’s reckless war, while Ukraine remains resilient and Western support continues.

"The truth is that Putin is running out of money, troops, and ideas. President Trump said it very well: 'They should stop where they are now'. And now it's high time to increase pressure on Russia, so we can finally get a fair and just peace for Ukraine," he said.

Russian losses

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost around 1,135,080 military personnel in the war against Ukraine.

On October 23 alone, Russian forces reportedly lost 910 soldiers.

Significant problems also continue in Russia's economy. At the end of September, US President Donald Trump said Russia's economy is in a terrible state and is gradually collapsing.

He added that Ukraine has done a good job holding back the Russian army.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities continue to portray the situation as stable. On October 7, Russian leader Vladimir Putin claimed that the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine was correct and timely.
