NASA satellites detect new fire at oil depot in Crimea

In temporarily occupied Crimea this morning, October 17, an oil depot in Hvardiiske caught fire. The blaze was detected by satellites, according to Krymskiy Veter.
According to the Telegram channel, the fire at the Hvardiiske oil depot is visible in NASA FIRMS satellite images.
The photos show two separate fire hotspots at the depot.
Earlier, reports surfaced online that a second tank at the oil depot had caught fire during the day.
Fire at Hvardiiske oil depot
Earlier this morning, October 17, explosions were heard in Simferopol and the surrounding district as the peninsula came under drone attacks.
Following this, a fire broke out at the oil depot in Hvardiiske. Locals reported that the fire was visible from a distance.
Online rumors also suggested that the Hvardiiske depot, owned by the ATAN gas station network, was damaged. The company is part of LLC Kedr, which manages the largest network of gas stations in Crimea - over a hundred locations - and has its own warehouses and tanker fleet.
According to reports, such an attack could worsen fuel shortages on the temporarily occupied peninsula.
The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces confirmed only in the evening that long-range drones had struck the Hvardiiske oil depot.
Ukrainian defenders also targeted the federal state treasury institution of the Gvardeyskoye combine.
