Musk's financial support for Republicans was more extensive and began earlier
Elon Musk’s financial backing of Republican parties has proven to be significantly larger and began earlier than previously believed, according to reports, citing The Wall Street Journal.
According to informed sources, the billionaire secretly funneled tens of millions of dollars to groups connected with former Trump advisor Stephen Miller and supporters of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a contender for the US presidency.
These previously undisclosed contributions highlight Musk’s pivotal role in funding Republican initiatives long before he established a super PAC to support Trump.
Musk has also emerged as one of the largest donors to conservative organizations. Combined with his influence on social media, this positions him as one of the most powerful figures in American politics.
In the fall of 2022, over $50 million from Musk was directed towards ad campaigns run by the group Citizens for Sanity, which targeted Democrats on issues such as transgender medical care and immigration.
Backstory
Elon Musk has been a strong supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, reportedly allocating about $45 million a month to the America PAC, which backs the Republican candidate.
Interestingly, Musk’s significant financial support for Trump began after an assassination attempt on the candidate when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks allegedly tried to shoot Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.
