Last weekend, there was an assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Donald Trump. The attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks, is described by his classmates as a "loner" and a "bad shooter," reports Sky News.

Seven hours after the assassination attempt, the Federal Bureau of Investigation named the attacker. It was Thomas Matthew Crooks. According to law enforcement officials, he was 20 years old and lived an hour's drive from the rally site. The shooter was registered as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania.

Former classmates call Crooks a loner who was bullied a lot in high school. He regularly wore hunting gear, which also made him look bad.

"He would sit alone at lunch. He was just the outcast. It's honestly kind of sad," said one of his classmates.

Crooks tried to play on the school's rifle team, but was rejected because he was a "bad shooter."

At the same time, the attacker is described as a relatively reserved and calm person. People who know him cannot recall Crooks speaking openly about politics or being active on social media.

Most recently, the shooter worked as a dietary aide in a nursing home. He passed a "clean background check" before being hired.

Act of domestic terrorism

During the attempt, Crooks used an AR-type rifle. According to law enforcement, it was probably purchased by his father. It is not yet known whether his father allowed him to use the weapon.

Law enforcement officials do not take for granted that this was a "lone wolf attack." The FBI is currently describing the attempt as a potential domestic terrorist attack.

Attempt on Trump's life

On July 13, an attempt was made on Trump's life during a rally in Pennsylvania, resulting in a minor gunshot wound.

On Sunday, US Republican Congressman Mark Green demanded that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle provide answers about the attempted assassination of Trump.

Yesterday, July 14, Trump made his first statement after the assassination attempt.
