Moscow has stated that Ukraine allegedly disrupted the adoption of a joint statement with the United States following negotiations in Riyadh. However, the Kremlin refrained from disclosing specific details, according to Interfax.

Negotiations between Russia and the United States in Riyadh, which lasted for 12 hours, ended without adopting a joint statement. According to Moscow, Ukraine's position was the reason for this outcome.

Vladimir Chizhov, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Federation’s Committee on Defense and Security, stated this during a broadcast on the Russia-24 TV channel.

He emphasized that despite all the discussions, the parties could not approve a final document.

"The fact that they sat for 12 hours and seemingly agreed on a joint statement, which was not adopted due to Ukraine's position, is also very telling and symptomatic," Chizhov said.

At the same time, he did not specify exactly what Ukraine’s position was or how it might have influenced the outcome of the negotiations.

Chizhov also did not disclose any details of the discussions, noting that their content might be made public later.

US-Russia negotiations

According to media reports, negotiations between the United States and Russia on March 24 lasted over 12 hours. A day earlier, a meeting between US and Ukrainian delegations took place in Saudi Arabia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that these negotiations would help move toward real peace.

The US State Department noted that Ukraine and Russia are now closer to a ceasefire than ever before.

Earlier today, the Kremlin announced that negotiations between Russia and the US will continue, with the UN and other countries expected to be involved. The discussions in Riyadh reportedly covered a wide range of issues.
