Explosions were reported in Moscow and the Moscow region on the night of August 23, allegedly due to an attack by unidentified drones, according to local Telegram channels and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

Before the sounds of explosions in the Moscow region, it became known that all airports were closed, and the "Kover" ("Carpet") plan was implemented, which prohibits the takeoff and landing of aircraft. It is used in cases where unknown or dangerous objects are detected in the sky.

At the same time, reports began to appear in public forums about purportedly spotted UAVs in the Moscow region.

Residents of Khimki, Krasnogorsk, and Dolgoprudny posted on social media about the explosions and, preliminarily, the operation of anti-aircraft defense.

In addition, an explosion was also reported in the capital of the aggressor country - "Moscow City" business district. Online videos showed smoke in this elite area, which has experienced damage from UAVs before.

There is currently no information about possible damage from the explosions. Streets around the "Moscow City" have been closed off. Emergency services and ambulance teams are responding.

According to Moscow Mayor Sobyanin, one drone targeted a building in "Moscow City" under construction, while another crashed in the Mozhaisk district of the Moscow region.

Videos of "bavovna" (explosions ironically) in Moscow and the Moscow region were published online.

Ministry of Defense claims shooting down 3 UAVs

The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported a "halted attempt" to attack Moscow by drones, which, as usual, they blame on Ukraine.

The department claimed to have shot down 3 UAVs of the aircraft type.

Explosions in Moscow

Explosions and fires have become more frequent on Russian territory lately, and Russians have begun to complain about "attacks."

For example, on August 21, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed a supposed drone attack in the Moscow region.

In addition, on August 18, explosions were heard in several districts of Moscow and the Moscow Region. Eyewitnesses reported the operation of air defense systems and spotted drones. Explosions were audible over Odintsovo in the Moscow region, Troitsk, and Krasnogorsk.

Also, an explosion was heard in the "Moscow City" district near the "Evolution" and "Federation" towers. It is also reported that one of the UAVs crashed at Expocenter on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment in the center of Moscow. There is no information about casualties.
