Russian occupiers shelled Zaporizhzhia on January 8. The city experienced 5 explosions, with residential areas being hit and casualties confirmed, according to the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Yurii Malashko.

"As of 08:00 AM, two injured have been reported – a man and a woman – due to the missile attack. The information is preliminary and may be updated," he said.

Consequences of the attack

According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Zaporizhzhia woke up at 07:00 AM to a Russian missile attack.

"As a result of a combined attack using cruise and ballistic missiles from various directions, a total of 5 explosions occurred in the regional center," added Malashko.

Currently, rocket impacts are known to have struck residential areas - in open spaces and near buildings. Operational and rescue services are active at the strike sites.

Ukraine under fire

An air alarm has been declared in Ukraine sonce the morning of January 8. The Air Force reported the takeoff of MiG-31K. Explosions were heard in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and anti-aircraft defenses were activated in Khmelnytskyi. Kryvyi Rih faced a massive missile strike.
