Missile strike rocks Kharkiv: Shattered windows and over 10 casualties (photos)

Late in the evening on August 17, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with a ballistic missile. The strike damaged windows in residential buildings, and there are reported injuries, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service’s Telegram.
Emergency services confirmed the information provided by the Kharkiv mayor that the strike targeted the Industrialnyi district of the city.
“The missile hit the ground near a residential area. The blast wave damaged windows in apartment buildings,” the report states.
Rescuers initially reported that eight people were injured, including a 13-year-old child. However, Mayor Ihor Terekhov later updated the information, stating that the number of injured has risen to 11.
The State Emergency Service also reported that rescuers inspected the apartments in the damaged buildings. In some homes, they had to force open doors and evacuate residents.
“Psychologists from the SES were on site, providing assistance to those affected,” the rescuers summarized.
Meanwhile, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office also released footage showing the aftermath of the enemy attack on the city.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, clarified that all 11 injured suffered acute stress reactions. He also provided details on the aftermath of the attack.
“More than 10 multi-story residential buildings and five parked cars were damaged. The blast wave shattered over a thousand windows,” he reported.
Meanwhile, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office stated that the type of missile used in the enemy strike is still being determined.
Evening attack on Kharkiv
Yesterday evening, air raid alerts were announced in Kyiv and several other regions of Ukraine due to the threat of ballistic weapons.
Shortly after, an explosion occurred in Kharkiv, and the mayor initially reported that Russians had likely hit a residential area. However, he later clarified that the strike landed between buildings.
It should also be noted that besides Kharkiv, the enemy attacked Sumy and the city of Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
