Russian ballistic missiles hit Ukraine's Sumy, Kharkiv, and Pavlohrad: Initial impact revealed

Russian forces struck Sumy, Kharkiv, and Pavlohrad with ballistic missiles, damaging residential areas and causing casualties and injuries, according to the Air Force of Ukraine, Suspilne, Sumy Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Hryhorov, and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Sumy
The first explosions in Sumy were reported around 10:40 PM Kyiv time. Oleh Hryhorov said Russian forces likely used a ballistic missile to target civilian infrastructure in the Sumy community.
"Preliminary information indicates no casualties. However, there is damage. The full extent of the attack is being clarified," he said at 11:04 PM Kyiv time.
Acting Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar added at 11:17 PM Kyiv time that the missile struck near an educational facility. According to early reports, no one was injured. Officials are still assessing the damage.

Kharkiv
Around 10:50 PM Kyiv time, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile on Kharkiv.
Mayor Ihor Terekhov said preliminary information shows the missile hit a residential multi-story building in the Industrialnyi District.
"Preliminarily, there are injured," Terekhov said at 10:55 PM Kyiv time.
Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleg Syniehubov reported that a 13-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman were injured in the strike.
Later, Terekhov confirmed that the number of injured has risen to three.
"The missile struck the Industrialnyi District among multi-story buildings. Windows were broken in at least six of them," the mayor said.
Syniehubov added that the third injured person is a 60-year-old woman.
Later, he reported at 11:32 PM Kyiv time that a 44-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman suffered acute stress reactions following the missile strike in Kharkiv's Industrialnyi District.
At 11:35 PM Kyiv time, a 27-year-old woman also sought medical assistance.
Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region
At 11:01 p.m., the Ukrainian Air Force reported a high-speed target moving toward Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Later, correspondents from Suspilne reported explosions in the city.
Other Russian air attacks
On the afternoon of August 17, Russian forces hit the village of Novoyakovlivka in the Zaporizhzhia region with high-explosive aerial bombs. A teenager was killed, and family members were injured.
The Russians also targeted Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. A follow-up drone strike targeted rescuers responding to the first attack.
