Missile strike on Sumy, September 8 - Russians hit residential area, causing destruction
The Russian forces launched a missile strike on Sumy in the early hours of September 8th, targeting the residential area. The attack resulted in significant destruction, says the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
"Russian terrorists carried out a missile strike on the residential area in Sumy. A private house has been destroyed," the post says.
It also noted that all emergency services are working at the scene.
"People are being provided with all necessary assistance," the Administration added.
Sumy mayor Oleksandr Lysenko clarified that a rocket hit private houses near Kozatskyi Avenue.
"Some houses are damaged, one is destroyed," the mayor reported.
Russian strikes on Sumy
During the night of September 8th, Russian occupiers conducted another aerial attack on Ukrainian territory, prompting an air alarm in several regions.
At approximately 5:30 AM, an explosion occurred in Sumy, and an air alarm was announced in the region. The Air Force Command announced a missile threat to the region, and the Sumy RMA reported the activation of air defense measures.
Prior to this, Russian forces attacked Sumy the previous night. On September 6th, occupiers launched 33 drones over Ukraine, with 25 of them successfully intercepted by air defense forces. At that time, in Sumy, an enemy drone struck a residential area, resulting in damage to private houses, shops, and apartments.
