Ministry of Defense to collaborate with major satellite firm: What it means for Ukraine
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has signed a contract with one of the largest satellite companies, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense met with the management of the satellite company, whose name is not disclosed for security reasons.
"The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the restriction of satellite imagery of Ukraine's territory under conditions of martial law," emphasized the ministry.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized its intention to extend the contract with the satellite company to order up-to-date images of Ukraine's territory for defense and security purposes.
"Every day satellite companies take pictures of the territory of Ukraine. These images can be used by the enemy. Therefore, we are grateful to our partners for their willingness to sign a memorandum with us and jointly implement a mechanism to restrict imaging of our territory. This cooperation should serve as an example for other satellite companies. Under conditions of war, we must minimize the risks of the enemy using images of Ukraine,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernohorenko.
Russia uses satellite images in the war against Ukraine
In early March of this year, the Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that Russia could have bought satellite images of objects in Ukraine from American companies.
According to Western media, China provides Russia with satellite images for strikes against Ukraine.
