China provides Russia with satellite imagery for Ukraine strikes - Bloomberg
China has stepped up its support for Russia. In particular, Beijing provides geospatial intelligence to help Moscow in its war against Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.
According to the newspaper's sources, amid signs of further military integration between the two countries, China has provided Russia with satellite imagery for military purposes, as well as microelectronics and machine tools for tanks.
While Beijing has tried to portray itself as largely neutral in the face of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, now in its third year, it has forged a deep alliance with Moscow in what Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin have called a "no limits" friendship ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Importantly, China and Hong Kong have also become key gateways for Moscow to access restricted technologies, including chips and integrated circuits used in or needed for weapons.
In turn, the United States and the European Union have listed several Chinese firms that carry out these transfers, but the trade shows no signs of slowing down.
As a reminder, on April 6, the United States warned Chinese companies of "significant consequences" if they assist Russia.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that China plays a big role in the world, so Ukraine wants this country to be involved in the peace formula.
Beijing has not yet agreed, but Chinese authorities do not criticize the Ukrainian formula.
