Massive Russian strike on Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region: Casualties reported

On the morning of July 17, Russia launched a massive artillery strike on Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. Due to the shelling, two people were killed and one more was injured, the Head of the Kostiantynivka City Military Administration, Serhii Horbunov, reports.
"This morning, the city of Kostiantynivka came under massive shelling from cannon artillery by Russian occupation forces. Six strikes on residential infrastructure in the city were recorded as a result of the attack," the statement says.
Due to the attack, two civilians were killed after sustaining fatal injuries in their own homes. Another civilian was wounded and was urgently hospitalized in the city hospital.

In addition to human losses, according to Horbunov, civilian infrastructure sustained significant damage: the facades of more than 30 private homes were destroyed or damaged.
The local authorities are urging residents not to delay evacuation and to contact the hotline for assistance to save their lives and those of their loved ones.

What we know about Kostiantynivka
Kostiantynivka is a city in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region, located on the Kryvyi Torets River, about 60 km from Donetsk. Before the war, around 70,000 people lived there.
The city was an important industrial center with developed metallurgy, glass and mirror production, and chemical industry.
During Russia's full-scale invasion, Kostiantynivka ended up in the frontline zone and has been under constant shelling. A significant part of the population has been evacuated, and the local economy is effectively paralyzed.
Shelling of Kostiantynivka
In the afternoon of July 9, the Russian army launched an airstrike on Kostiantynivka. Three people were killed and one was injured due to the shelling.
Before that, the Russian Smerch MLRS attacked Kostiantynivka. One person was killed in that strike.
Russian troops also shelled Kostiantynivka on June 26. Due to the attack, a pharmacy building was damaged, and there were civilian casualties.
