On the night of December 2, the south of the Odesa region came under a massive attack by Russian drones. The enemy targeted energy and civilian facilities, leaving thousands of people without electricity, reports Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper.

According to the regional administration, an energy facility, an administrative building, and private households were damaged.

As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out at an energy infrastructure facility, which firefighters, together with volunteers, promptly extinguished, but the attack caused power outages.

No information about the dead or injured has been reported.

The city's emergency response headquarters is operating at the site, and critical infrastructure is being temporarily powered by generators. Eleven invincibility points have been deployed to assist the population.

According to rescuers, 3 units of equipment and 15 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire, along with local fire teams — 2 units of equipment and 5 rescuers. The State Emergency Service also released footage of the aftermath of the attack.

As clarified by the Ukrainian energy company DTEK, the company's energy facility was attacked by the Russians tonight.

"8,000 households have been reconnected through backup schemes. Another 36,300 remain temporarily without power," the statement said.

Energy workers are operating in reinforced mode to restore the electricity supply as quickly as possible.

Strikes on the Odesa region

Russian forces constantly attack Odesa and the Odesa region. In particular, on the night of November 27, the region once again came under a Russian drone strike. The attack damaged two residential buildings, an equestrian club, and gas station facilities.

Before that, Russian forces attacked energy and port infrastructure in several cities of the Odesa region. As a result of the attack, several vessels were damaged, and one person was injured. More than 32,000 consumers were left without electricity.

During another night attack by the Russians on the Odesa region, a DTEK energy facility was damaged, and a worker was injured. Nearly 30,000 households were left without power at that time.
