A major fire has broken out at a gas distribution station in the Russian city of Kizilyurt, Dagestan. The column of fire has reached dozens of meters into the air, according to RIA Novosti and Shot.

Citing the regional main directorate of the Emergency Situations Ministry, Russian media reported that three explosions occurred on a main gas pipeline in Dagestan.

The fire started in Kizilyurt's industrial zone.

Telegram channels, citing residents, reported that a gas pipeline ruptured before catching fire.

The glow of the fire could be seen several kilometers away from the scene. Emergency services are currently working at the site of the incident.

Explosions in Moscow and the Moscow region

Earlier today, June 9, a car exploded in Balashikha near Moscow. Information later appeared online claiming that a Russian lieutenant general had been killed in the incident.

It was subsequently reported that the explosion killed Colonel Damir Davidov, head of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of Russia's Ministry of Defense.

Davidov's name had previously appeared in documents published by Yevgeny Prigozhin during his conflict with the Russian Defense Ministry. According to those materials, Davidov was among the military officials responsible for distributing ammunition within the Russian army.

Later, another car exploded in southwestern Moscow. According to unconfirmed reports, the vehicle's engine compartment caught fire.
