Massive fire breaks out in Sumy after drone strikes

In the early hours of September 21, warehouses in the Zarychnyi district of Sumy caught fire following a Russian attack, according to the State Emergency Service (DSNS) of Ukraine.
During the night, local residents heard three explosions. They occurred in the Zarychnyi district, where drones struck warehouse facilities. A fire broke out after the strikes.
The flames engulfed non-residential areas over a large space and quickly spread through flammable structures. The scale of the fire complicated the work of emergency responders.
The State Emergency Service quickly extinguished all fire hotspots and inspected the area. No casualties were reported.
Enemy continues to target Sumy
On September 11, a Russian drone struck a symbol of the city in central Sumy – the Holy Resurrection Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Although many worshippers were inside at the time, there were no casualties.
Russian attacks also hit the grounds of one of the city’s educational institutions, damaging several buildings and causing partial destruction. A fire broke out in one of the structures.
Additionally, on September 12, Russian drones attacked Sumy again. The enemy hit a non-residential building, which resulted in a fire.
