Massive attack on Kremenchuk: 40+ explosions, fires, and cluster bombs reported

Russia has been carrying out massive strikes on Kremenchuk, Poltava region, for the second week in a row. During the night of June 21, the city was once again subjected to a combined attack.
RBC-Ukraine reports what is known about the massive shelling of Kremenchuk.
Combined attack
Shortly after midnight on June 21, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported drone activity in several regions, including Poltava. According to local media, the first explosions in Kremenchuk were heard around 00:30.
Explosions continued without pause afterward. By 2:00 a.m., local residents counted no fewer than 40 blasts. The Russians also attacked Kremenchuk with various types of missiles.
The Air Forces reported that on this night, Russia launched a total of 272 drones and 8 missiles at Ukraine, including:

2 aeroballistic Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles;

4 cruise Kalibr missiles;

2 cruise Iskander-K missiles.
Air defense forces intercepted 252 drones (140 shot down, 112 lost by radar), three Iskander missiles (one lost by radar), one Kinzhal missile (one lost by radar), and one Kalibr missile (one lost by radar).
According to the military, the main direction of the enemy’s strike was Kremenchuk, where hits were confirmed in the city.
Consequences of the attack
Volodymyr Kohut, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that in the Kremenchuk district, direct hits and falling debris were recorded at energy infrastructure facilities and open areas.
Local media reported powerful fires in Kremenchuk during the night, and smoke was noticeable by morning.
According to the State Emergency Service and the Poltava Regional Military Administration, one person sustained moderate injuries.

The mayor of Kremenchuk, Vitalii Maletskyi, clarified that residential neighborhoods in the city were also affected. According to him, private and apartment buildings — mostly with shattered windows — were damaged, along with vehicles.

Dangerous munitions
The police reported that Russian forces used munitions with cluster elements during the nighttime shelling.
"Following the combined overnight attack on the Kremenchuk district, cases of cluster submunition discoveries have been recorded in the area. Such weapons pose a deadly threat to human life and health," the statement said.
The dangerous elements appear as metal spheres approximately 10 cm in diameter. They resemble toys or balls, making them especially hazardous to children.

Residents of the Kremenchuk district have been prohibited from approaching, moving, or handling cluster munitions. If a suspicious object is found, people should immediately call the police at 102 or contact the State Emergency Service (DSNS).
Attack on Kremenchuk on June 15
Last week, on June 15, Kremenchuk was subjected to a massive enemy strike.
Local media at the time described the attack as one of the most powerful the city has experienced since the start of the full-scale war.
According to the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, the strikes targeted energy and agricultural infrastructure facilities in the Kremenchuk community. The attack also damaged a private house, a civilian vehicle, and a power line.
