A Georgia man has been charged with interstate threats after sending violent texts to US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard and her husband, NBC News reports.

Federal agents have arrested 24-year-old Aliakbar Mohammad Amin from Lilburn, Georgia, after he allegedly sent a series of death threats targeting Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, and her husband, Abraham Williams.

The threats, sent between March 29 and April 1, included disturbing messages such as: "Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you hold dear. America will burn."

According to the Justice Department, Amin warned that Gabbard was "living on borrowed time" and declared her home "a legitimate target" that would be struck "at a time and place of our choosing."

In another message directed at Williams, Amin referenced Vladimir Putin and included emojis to underscore his tone: "Tell your wife to always be on her best behavior and not to disobey Mr. Vladimir Putin’s orders. We are friendly bears [Russian Flag + Bear emoji]. But we can also be angry bears [Russian Flag + Bear emoji]."

Firearm found and public officials respond

The FBI also discovered additional threats on Amin’s social media, including images showing a gun pointed at photos of Gabbard and her husband.

A firearm was recovered from his residence during the arrest on Friday.

Tulsi Gabbard reacted on X shortly after Amin’s detention.

Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge at the FBI in Atlanta, issued a strong warning: "Let this arrest serve as a clear warning: if you engage in this kind of criminal behavior, you will be caught and you will go to prison."

The case follows another major security incident just a day earlier, when an intruder attacked Governor Shapiro’s home in Pennsylvania with Molotov cocktails — an act that has sparked federal investigations and nationwide concern.
