Ukrainian units destroyed key infrastructure at the Mariupol commercial port. The facility is now completely without power and unable to operate, according to the 1st Corps of the Azov Brigade of Ukraine's National Guard.

What was destroyed at the port

As a result of a joint operation involving several units — the 1st Corps of the Azov Brigade of Ukraine's National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine's Main Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Alpha Special Operations Center, and the Unmanned Systems Forces — the following facilities were hit:

  • Electrical substations;

  • Radar equipment;

  • Repair infrastructure;

  • A control tower;

  • Fuel and lubricant storage tanks.

A separate target was the cargo vessel Lady Augusta, which is part of Russia's so-called shadow fleet and is under sanctions. It was also hit during the operation.

Consequences for Russian forces

The Mariupol commercial port is completely without power. Logistics operations of Russian forces in the region have been significantly complicated.

On June 5, Ukrainian drones attacked five vessels in the ports of Mariupol and Berdiansk. All of them were operating with their radars turned off and their names painted over while transporting grain, fuel, and military cargo.

On June 8, a series of explosions and a large fire at a substation were reported in occupied Mariupol. The main target of that attack was also the energy infrastructure of the port area.
