Macron to attend high-risk football match between France and Israel - RTL
A high-risk football match between the national teams of France and Israel at the Stade de France this Thursday, November 14, will be attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, reports RTL.
According to a source from the president's entourage, Macron’s participation aims to demonstrate full support for the French national team, as he does at every match.
Additionally, he wants to send a message of brotherhood and solidarity following the unacceptable antisemitic actions that took place after the match in Amsterdam earlier this week, the source said.
On November 10, police prefect Laurent Nunez stated that the France-Israel match on Thursday in Saint-Denis is considered high risk, adding that he hopes to mobilize 4,000 law enforcement officers for the event.
RTL’s source reported that 2,500 police officers will be deployed to secure the Stade de France, while another 2,500 will protect strategic sites in Paris.
Attack on Israeli fans in Amsterdam
On November 7, after the Ajax (Amsterdam) vs. Maccabi (Tel Aviv) match, young individuals attacked Israeli fans while chanting pro-Palestinian slogans.
The police in Amsterdam launched an investigation and detained over 60 people.
The Dutch authorities temporarily banned the holding of rallies and demonstrations in the country.
Following this, a group of young people in Amsterdam pursued a film crew from the Israeli broadcaster Kan. The journalists had to call the police for assistance.
