Macron reveals timeline for appointing new French Prime Minister
French President Emmanuel Macron today dismissed Prime Minister Michel Barnier. His successor will be appointed in the coming days, according to BFMTV and Le Figaro.
Macron announced that he would appoint a new French Prime Minister "in the next few days."
"I will charge him with forming a government of national interest, representing all political forces that can participate or, at least, commit to not forcing its resignation," he stated.
Macron also responded to calls from the opposition for him to resign.
"The mandate you democratically entrusted to me is a five-year mandate, and I will fulfill it in full until the end. My duty is to ensure the continuity of the state, the proper functioning of our institutions, the independence of our country, and the protection of all of you," the French President explained.
