Macron plans to visit Ukraine in February to sign security guarantee agreement
French President Emmanuel Macron intends to visit Ukraine in February with an official visit and announce a new package of military assistance, according to Le Figaro and Reuters.
"We are going to deliver a lot more equipment and help Ukraine with what it needs to defend its skies.I will go myself to Ukraine in February and finalise these texts," stated the President of France during a press conference.
He also mentioned that during the visit, a bilateral agreement on security guarantees between France and Ukraine will be signed.
It is noted that France is working on concluding a bilateral security guarantee agreement with Ukraine to help strengthen Ukraine's financial and defense independence in order to deter Moscow from future aggression.
Ukraine has signed a security guarantee agreement with Britain
On January 2, the Prime Minister of Britain, Rishi Sunak, visited Kyiv on a working visit. He met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The leaders signed a historic agreement between the United Kingdom and Ukraine on security cooperation. It came into effect on January 12, 2024, and will be valid for 10 years.
The Office of the President also stated that Ukraine is negotiating security agreements with 6 countries: the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Canada, and Poland.
