Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko believes that Russia's war against Ukraine could end as early as this year, according to the Telegram channel Pul Pervogo, which is closely associated with Lukashenko.
"This year, I believe these conflicts can be brought to an end. And I am not even hoping — I am confident that they will be ended," the dictator emphasized, referring to the wars in Ukraine and Iran.
Lukashenko noted that there is currently an opportunity to end these conflicts. According to him, everything depends on "the will of just a few people."
"If such a desire exists, then these wars can definitely be ended this year. Even the Russia-Ukraine conflict can be ended this year. As for the Middle East, there are no other options there. There is no way to stop the war," he believes.
In May, Ukraine’s Defense Forces liberated 100 square kilometers more territory than was lost. According to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, since the beginning of 2026, the total area of de-occupied territories has exceeded 600 square kilometers.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the coming months could be decisive in the war. He noted that the outcomes of the EU, G7, and NATO summits could significantly influence both the diplomatic process and the prospects for a possible ceasefire.
The head of the UK intelligence agency GCHQ, Anne Keast-Butler, stated that Russia’s losses in the war against Ukraine have already approached 500,000 troops. According to her, the Russian dictator is effectively retreating on the battlefield.
