A loud explosion was heard in Kharkiv early Friday morning, January 30. The military had warned of a ballistic threat and detected a missile, according to Suspilne Novyny and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"At 5:02 AM, an explosion was heard in Kharkiv," Suspilne correspondents reported.
Earlier, the military warned of a possible ballistic threat from the northeast, after which a high-speed target was detected in Kharkiv region.
There have been no official comments so far regarding the attack or its consequences.
Air raid alerts
As of 5:11 AM, air raid alerts remained in effect in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions.

Ukraine strikes and 'energy truce'
On the evening of January 26, Russian forces also carried out a missile strike on an energy facility in Kharkiv. Three hits were recorded, leaving about 40% of the city’s consumers without electricity.
Yesterday US President Donald Trump said he had asked Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to halt strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including Kyiv, for one week, and that Putin had allegedly agreed. Shortly afterward, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that an energy truce had been reached.
At the same time, Russian forces continue to attack Ukraine, though for now they appear to be avoiding strikes on energy infrastructure. One of the attacks occurred this morning in Kharkiv, as reported above.
