Lithuania to help Ukraine train military instructors next year
Ukrainian basic military training instructors will have the opportunity to study in Lithuania in 2025, reports the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhiш Mykolayovych Melnyk, and Lithuania's international advisor on professional military education, Stasys Paldunas.
It was noted that the first phase of training will involve a group of 30 Ukrainian instructors. Upon completing the courses in Lithuania, they will be able to implement modern NATO methodologies and approaches in Ukraine's training centers.
"Improving military education and combat training is one of the key tasks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are grateful to our partners for their support, which allows us to integrate modern NATO standards into our training system," Melnyk stated.
Additionally, the meeting addressed prospects for updating combat shooting training programs.
It was reported that in 2025, a pilot project is planned to be launched at two Ukrainian training institutions with NATO's support. The project aims to create modern courses for combat shooting instructors, aligned with NATO standards.
Training of Ukrainian military personnel abroad
Ukrainian military personnel are undergoing extensive training in various countries worldwide with the support of NATO and European Union partners. These programs enhance their skills, adapt them to Western army standards, and enable the effective use of modern equipment.
Such initiatives are critical for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and integrating its military into the European collective security system.
Earlier, it was reported that over 12,000 Ukrainian soldiers had completed military training under NATO programs.
Additionally, the UK announced its intention to send instructors to Ukraine to train Armed Forces personnel.
