Leader of Transnistria states that region to purchase gas using loan funds from Russia

Transnistria will receive gas to ensure its functioning through a Russian loan, the leader of the unrecognized region, Vadim Krasnoselsky, wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
According to Krasnoselsky, the supply of European gas from the first aid tranche to Transnistria ends today, with 26.275 million cubic meters delivered to the region between February 1 and 10.
“We are grateful to EU officials for their assistance, which allowed us to restore the republic's energy system at this stage. Moving forward, Transnistria will be supplied with gas by a Hungarian company with the participation of Moldovagaz... The Hungarian supply became possible thanks to Russian credit and functional support. I thank the representatives of the Russian Ministry of Energy for their assistance,” Krasnoselsky wrote.
Energy crisis in Moldova
The unrecognized region of Transnistria faced an energy crisis after Ukraine halted the transit of Russian gas to Europe and Moldova. This occurred on January 1, 2025.
At the time, Ukraine expressed its readiness to assist in resolving the issue in Transnistria. In particular, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine could supply coal and send specialists to the Moldavskaya GRES, which, according to him, could generate ten times more electricity.
We also reported that Moldova and the authorities of the unrecognized Transnistria signed a gas loan agreement, under which Chișinău would provide Tiraspol with a loan of 3 million cubic meters of natural gas.
On February 1, Moldova officially began the first gas deliveries on loan to Transnistria.
