Russia has claimed that it is allegedly ready for peace negotiations with Ukraine, while at the same time accusing Ukraine of blocking them, according to RIA.
According to the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the aggressor state is allegedly ready to hold talks with Ukraine, but "does not see readiness for this from the other side."
"We have repeatedly stated that we are ready to hold negotiations on Ukraine, but we do not see any willingness for dialogue from the other side. We cannot find anyone on the other side with whom we could conduct a dialogue," Lavrov said.
The absurdity of Moscow’s statement lies in the fact that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday, June 3, that he is ready for any format to bring peace closer, including direct talks with the Russian leader.
"I am ready for direct negotiations with Putin to end this war rather than wait in line until everyone finishes all conflicts in the world and only then it reaches us," the head of state emphasized.
Recently, an aide to the Russian President, Yuri Ushakov, called peace talks "inappropriate" until Kyiv withdraws its troops from the part of Donbas under its control.
According to him, only after that would hostilities be suspended, while he described everything else as a "waste of time."
At the same time, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, stressed that the aide’s statement indicates that the Kremlin effectively acknowledges it does not plan to end the full-scale war, since Ukraine refuses to leave its own land.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Office states that ending the "hot phase" of the war in the coming months is entirely achievable. In particular, the head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, noted that Ukraine has the necessary capabilities to halt hostilities before the beginning of winter.
