After reports that British-made drones were used in Ukrainian strikes on Russia, Moscow spoke about possible consequences for London, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's comments to Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Lavrov, commenting on reports that Ukraine was using British weapons, said Russia allegedly has the right to respond if it believes its interests or property are being harmed.
"You know, I feel sorry for Britain if it is going to fight to the very end," the Russian minister said.
According to him, Moscow could view the direct involvement of British missile forces in strikes on Russian territory as Britain's participation in the war.
"We likewise have the right to regard this proudly announced direct involvement of British missile forces in strikes on the Russian Federation as participation in the war, with all the consequences that follow from this," Lavrov said.
What is known about Ukraine's use of British drones
The Times previously reported that Ukrainian forces are using British-made drones to carry out long-range strikes against targets in mainland Russia.
According to the newspaper, the drones used by Ukraine include British-made systems, in particular the Nyan jet-powered drone developed by BAE Systems.
Following reports that British UAVs were being used, the Russian Embassy in London threatened the UK with "consequences."
At the same time, the UK Ministry of Defense said London does not plan to reduce its military support for Ukraine. It stressed that Britain will continue supplying Kyiv with the weapons and equipment needed to defend itself against Russian aggression.
