UK responds to threats from Russia
The British Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the country stands with Ukraine and will continue to provide it with the necessary resources to counter the Russian invasion.
"Britain stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and we are committed to providing the equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself against Putin’s illegal invasion," the UK Ministry of Defense states.
They also stressed that Moscow should not doubt the British government's resolve to counter Russian aggression not only in Ukraine but also against the UK and its allies.
What prompted Moscow's statement
The day before, the Russian Embassy in London threatened the UK with consequences following reports that Ukraine had used British drones to strike targets on Russian territory.
According to the Sunday Times, the Ukrainian military used drones manufactured by two British companies as part of a campaign of long-range strikes against Russia.
Thus, London has confirmed its readiness to continue providing military support to Ukraine, despite public threats from Russia.
This marks the first time Ukraine has used British strike drones to carry out strikes deep inside Russian territory. According to reports, Ukrainian forces have been using these systems for about half a year to attack oil refineries and other facilities in Russia.
