Latvia is allocating €20 million for drones and support for the Ukrainian army in 2026, stated Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže at a press conference in Kyiv.

"Next year, €15 million from us to make sure that there is sufficient capability, but also that the newest scientific and innovative research is implemented on the battlefield and allows Ukraine to defend itself," she said.

According to her, this money will be spent on drones, the development of innovative technologies for unmanned systems, the creation of new technical capabilities, and the introduction of advanced developments on the battlefield.

In addition, Latvia will allocate €5 million for the rehabilitation and training of Ukrainian servicemen — up to 4,000 people can be supported each year.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that Latvia has delivered 12,000 drones to Ukraine this year, and both sides discussed increasing production and supplies in 2026.

Latvia's support for Ukraine

Latvia has been actively supporting Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion, providing military equipment, drones, training, and medical assistance.

The country is a key partner in developing the Drone Coalition and innovative defense technologies for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Joint press conferences after negotiations allow officials to announce the scale of assistance and outline plans for the coming years.
