The Defense Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) attacked Novorossiysk in Russia. The oil terminal and a large landing ship were targeted, according to sources in the SBU.

“Last night, fighters from the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center, together with the Security and Defense Forces, used long-range drones to strike a number of military and logistical facilities at the Novorossiysk seaport in the Krasnodar region of Russia,” the sources said.

Hits were recorded on the infrastructure of the oil terminal (oil loading stands and manifolds) and on the positions of the S-300/S-400 air defense systems. According to preliminary data, a large landing ship of project 1171, which was moored at the naval base, was also damaged.

The operation was carried out by the SBU in cooperation with the Defense Intelligence, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the State Border Service, and the coastal missile and artillery forces of the Ukrainian Navy.

During the attack, Russian air defense forces actively targeted civilian infrastructure in Novorossiysk. The video shows multiple hits by Pantsir missiles on residential buildings.

The port of Novorossiysk is Russia's second-largest oil export center and the main base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

“The SBU continues to methodically reduce Russia's oil revenues, which it uses to finance the war against Ukraine, as well as to weaken the enemy's air defense systems that protect key military and infrastructure facilities,” an informed source in the SBU said.

Background

On the night of November 14, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian Navy's Novorossiysk base in the Krasnodar region of Russia. Ukrainian missiles and strike drones attacked and damaged port infrastructure in the city and the Sheskharis oil terminal.

Sheskharis is a large oil terminal in the port of Novorossiysk, owned by Transneft and Rosneft. The terminal handles 35-40 large tankers per month, which is at least 3.5-4.5 million tons of crude oil, or up to 20% of Russia's maritime exports.

It later became known that the port of Novorossiysk urgently stopped oil exports after a nighttime drone attack. A state of emergency was declared in the city. Due to the strike on Novorossiysk, world oil prices rose by 3%. In general, the Ukrainian strike stopped 2% of the world's oil supply.
