Kyiv suffers five direct missile strikes overnight: How Ukraine's air defense respond

On the night of July 31, the Russian army launched 317 drones and missiles at Ukraine. The main target of the strike was Kyiv, 5 direct hits were recorded, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
According to the military, in total, the enemy used 309 Shahed-type strike drones and decoy UAVs from the directions of Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia).
The invaders also launched 8 Iskander-K cruise missiles from the Kursk region.
To repel the attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned fire systems, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved.
As of 09:00 AM Kyiv time, air defense forces had shot down or suppressed by EW 291 targets:

288 strike UAVs;

3 Iskander-K cruise missiles.
At the same time, 5 direct missile hits were recorded, one of which hit a residential building in Kyiv.
Another 21 enemy drones hit 12 locations, and fragments of downed targets fell on 19 objects – mostly in the capital.
"Unfortunately, there are dead and injured," reported the Air Force.
Combined strike on the capital on July 31
Tonight, Russian troops carried out another combined strike on Kyiv. Thus, as a result of the attack, hits on residential buildings were recorded. Currently, casualties and several dozen injured are already known.
It also became known that among the injured are three police officers who were responding to a call.
The districts most affected by the raid of enemy drones and missiles were Sviatoshynskyi and Solomianskyi, and there is also damage in Holosiivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
As a result of the attack, several streets and avenues in the city are blocked. Also, the route of trolleybus No. 27 has been organized to the House-Building Plant No. 3.
