The death toll in the Kyiv region following Russia's massive overnight attack has risen to eight, according to a statement by the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk.
Kalashnyk noted that 20 of the injured have been hospitalized. Doctors are fighting for the lives of three people who remain in critical condition. The victims are receiving all necessary medical assistance.
The head of the regional administration said that the largest number of casualties was recorded in Bucha district, where 35 people were injured. Residents of Boryspil, Brovary, and Fastiv districts were also wounded.
"Russia is once again deliberately targeting civilians, destroying homes, taking lives, and shattering destinies. Every such crime must be met with just punishment," Kalashnyk said.
Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine overnight on July 6, using missiles and attack drones. The most severe destruction was reported in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, particularly in the city of Vyshneve.
In the capital, the Podil and Darnytskyi districts were hit the hardest. Meanwhile, the evacuation of residents in Vyshneve is ongoing due to the threat of a secondary detonation.
According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, an entire family was killed in the overnight ballistic missile strike on Kyiv.
