Kyiv engulfed in smoke after one of the deadliest drone attacks - Photo report

On the night of June 10, Russian forces launched a massive drone and missile attack on Kyiv. Fires and destruction were reported across seven districts of the city, with injuries sustained by civilians.
RBC-Ukraine publishes a report from the capital, which endured one of the heaviest drone raids to date.
Throughout the night, the enemy relentlessly terrorized the city with drones. Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure and peaceful residents of Kyiv.
According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, it was a difficult night, but thanks to the incredible efforts of Ukraine's Defense Forces, casualties were minimized.
A total of seven districts in the capital sustained damage. There was partial destruction and fires in both apartment complexes and private homes. Cars and warehouse facilities caught fire. Four people were injured.
The most significant destruction in Kyiv occurred in the Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts.
RBC-Ukraine visited the Obolonskyi district and shares footage of the aftermath of the attack on peaceful civilians.

The lower floors of the high-rise were hit, leaving a gaping hole and destroying several apartments. Windows were blown out, and the facade was damaged. Nearby, cars and a pharmacy were also damaged. A fire broke out on the grounds of a nearby auto service station.
In addition, drone debris fell on the grounds of a school in the Obolonskyi district.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service had to deploy a helicopter to extinguish fires caused by the Russian attack.

In other parts of the capital:
- Desnianskyi district: A car caught fire, and drone debris was reported.
- Shevchenkivskyi district: Multiple cars burned, a balcony caught fire in a residential building, and a business center was affected.
- Dniprovskyi district: Smoke was reported in non-residential buildings.
- Podilskyi district: Drone debris fell in two locations.
- Darnytskyi district: Fires broke out in a non-residential building and a residential one. Debris landed in green zones and open areas. Partial destruction occurred in a non-residential area, garages were damaged, and warehouses caught fire. A forested area also caught fire. Preliminary reports say debris hit a private home.
- Solomianskyi district: A fire broke out in a high-rise building. Drone fragments landed on the roof.
- Holosiivskyi district: Drone debris fell on non-residential buildings, with damage reported to a business center.
Emergency services are working on-site across the city to eliminate the consequences of the mass attack. Due to numerous fires, the city has been shrouded in smoke since the night. RBC-Ukraine previously reported which districts are experiencing the worst air pollution.
Nighttime Russian attack on Ukraine on June 10
On the night of June 10, Russian forces launched 322 drones and missiles across Ukraine, with Kyiv being the primary target.
During the attack, the enemy used:
- 315 Shahed-type attack drones and various decoy UAVs;
- 2 KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles.
Ukrainian air defense neutralized 284 aerial threats - 220 were shot down by firepower, and 64 were lost to electronic warfare or location unknown, namely:
- 213 Shahed drones and other UAVs;
- 2 KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- 64 drones lost to EW or not located.
Strikes were recorded in 11 locations, and debris from downed drones/missiles fell in 16 locations.
The regions most affected by the attack were Kyiv, Kyiv region, and Odesa. The enemy specifically targeted civilian infrastructure.
In total, 19 fires broke out across the country due to the strikes - 4 are still being extinguished.
In Odesa, which also came under a massive attack, the death toll rose to 2, and 9 people were injured. In addition to a maternity hospital and an emergency medical station, a private medical clinic, sports complex, zoo, and the city’s train station were damaged.
