Late in the evening of October 9, explosions were heard in Kyiv and Dnipro. The Russian forces are once again attacking the cities with drones, according to the Telegram channels of Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, Suspilne Dnipro, and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Air defense forces are operating in the capital against enemy drones. Stay in shelters," Klitschko wrote at 11:44 p.m. Kyiv time.

At the same time, several local channels report power outages in Kyiv amid the drone attack.

Around the same time, explosions were also heard in Dnipro. It is currently known that the enemy is carrying out a massive drone attack on Ukraine.

"Attention! Several dozen enemy strike drones are in the country’s airspace. The main concentrations are over the Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Stay in shelters until the all-clear signal," the statement said.

Later, the military clarified that Russian drones were heading toward Kyiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Zaporizhzhia.

Attacks on Ukraine

On the night of October 9, the Russian forces launched 112 drones of various types against Ukraine, including Shahed drones, Geran drones, and others. Of these, 70 were identified specifically as Shahed drones.

As of 9:00 a.m. Kyiv time, Ukraine’s air defense forces had shot down and neutralized 87 enemy drones of different types. At the same time, 22 drones were recorded over 12 locations.
