Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the level of contacts between Russia and the US regarding Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine is yet to be determined, according to the pro-Kremlin news agency TASS.

According to Peskov, the need for a conversation between Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, as well as the overall level of contacts between Moscow and Washington regarding the peace plan, still needs to be established.

“It all remains to be determined,” Russian media quoted him as saying.

What is known about the US peace plan

Recently, media outlets published a peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, consisting of 28 points. According to reports, it was drafted by Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff with the support of Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev.

According to the document, Ukraine would need to withdraw troops from the Donbas, reduce the size of its army, give up long-range weapons, abandon NATO membership, and more. In return, the country would receive security guarantees. Axios reports that these guarantees are similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter.

Sky News reports that next week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump are expected to have a phone call regarding the plan. Media outlets have also reported that Ukraine is being pressured to sign the agreement by November 27, with Trump confirming to Fox News that the deadline is next Thursday.

Yesterday, Zelenskyy addressed the nation, saying that Ukraine may now face a difficult choice and that this is one of the most challenging moments in the country’s history.

The situation regarding the US peace plan was also commented on by Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to him, Moscow is ready to discuss the plan, which could serve as a starting point. However, Putin added that Russia is only willing to agree to a peace treaty - meaning an immediate agreement rather than starting with a ceasefire and signing the document later.
