The Kremlin has announced that negotiating teams from Russia and Ukraine are reportedly working on drafting a set of conditions for a temporary ceasefire, though no formal truce has yet been agreed, the Russian media reports, citing Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

"So far, we have not reached the stage of an actual ceasefire or truce. First, we need to coordinate the text of the memorandum and develop a list of conditions for a temporary truce. Our negotiating teams are currently working on this and the special military operation (Russia's war againt Ukraine - ed.) continues," Peskov said.

Peskov had earlier stated that Russia's draft of the ceasefire memorandum was in its final stages and would be made public soon.

Russia's memorandum on ceasefire

After the meeting in Istanbul on May 16, Russia stated that the parties must present their visions of a ceasefire in written form. Later, Vladimir Putin announced that the Kremlin is preparing a so-called memorandum regarding a future peace agreement.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the document will include approximate timelines for ending the war. According to the latest reports, the Russian side is allegedly finalizing the text.

At the same time, the Presidential Office of Ukraine believes that Moscow will include in this memorandum conditions that are unacceptable for Ukraine, particularly, those that mean the loss of state sovereignty.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will read Russia's proposals and then respond to them.
