Russia continues to work on a draft memorandum regarding the full-scale war in Ukraine. The document may include possible timeframes for signing a peace agreement, the Russian news agency Interfax reports, citing Maria Zakharova, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

"Russia continues developing a draft memorandum on a future peace agreement, outlining a number of positions such as the principles of settlement, possible timeframes for concluding a peace agreement, and a potential temporary ceasefire if, I stress, the relevant agreements are reached," Zakharova said.

The Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry also added that once the memorandum is prepared, it will be handed over to the Ukrainian side. In particular, the Kremlin expects that Kyiv is conducting similar work and will send its proposals to Moscow.

Peace memorandum

During recent negotiations in Istanbul, the Ukrainian and Russian delegations agreed to present their visions of a ceasefire in written form.

On May 19, following talks with US leader Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that it was necessary to "simply determine the most effective ways to move toward peace." Putin then noted that Moscow is ready to work with Kyiv on a memorandum.

According to Ukrainian historian and diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi, Russia may include in its memorandum demands for Ukraine's neutrality, downsizing its army, a ban on NATO membership, and an expanded role for the Russian Orthodox Church.
