King Charles III of the UK spoke to Ukraine and its people on the anniversary of the signing of the century-long partnership agreement between the two countries. The monarch also marked another significant anniversary, nearly four years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to a post on the King’s official X account.
In his message, Charles III, together with Queen Camilla, expressed support for the Ukrainian people, stating that all Ukrainians are in their thoughts and prayers, and emphasized hope for a just and lasting peace.
“As we also look ahead to the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of your beloved country - a time of great anguish, I know, for many families across Ukraine and the world - my wife and I continue to keep you all in our heartfelt thoughts and prayers,” the statement reads.
The monarch also expressed hope that Ukraine will achieve a just and lasting peace that ensures its security, sovereignty, and prosperity, as the Ukrainian people deserve.
King Charles III highlighted that Ukraine’s resilience during the war serves as an example for the entire world. He said that the courage and determination shown by Ukrainians in the face of extreme trials and suffering deserve deep respect.
“I am continually impressed by the sheer bravery, courage, and resilience shown by the Ukrainian people,” he added.
King Charles III reportedly persuaded US President Donald Trump that Ukraine could win the war against Russia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also noted in a foreign interview that the British monarch played a significant behind-the-scenes role in securing US support for Ukraine.
In September, Charles III called on allies to unite in support of Ukraine.
