In North Korea, soldiers who fought in the Kursk region on the side of Russia marched under the Russian flag. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recalled the 6,000 people who died in the war against Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.

"They may appear proud, yet there is nothing to be proud of. What is missing from this propaganda charade are at least 6,000 North Korean soldiers who did not march in Pyongyang that day," Tykhyi says.

The spokesperson stresses that they died in an illegal war of aggression thousands of kilometers away from their country, to which they had no connection.

In his opinion, the whole world needs to realize that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un "does not supply this cannon fodder" for free. Instead, he receives concrete and dangerous support from Vladimir Putin.

"We believe that this should concern every country in the Indo-Pacific, and we reiterate Ukraine’s readiness to work closely together to tackle common security threats stemming from the deepening Moscow-Pyongyang cooperation," Tykhyi adds.

North Korean soldiers in Russia's war against Ukraine

Since the early years of the war against Ukraine, North Korea has been supplying the Russian army with ammunition, equipment, and weapons. It also periodically sends its soldiers to participate in combat operations.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, North Korean artillery and drone troops are shelling Ukraine from the Kursk region. Soldiers from the DPRK are also involved in aerial reconnaissance and adjusting MLRS strikes.

The North Korean military is also helping the Russians by operating drones and correcting strikes on Ukrainian positions in the Sumy region.

In addition, North Korean soldiers stationed in Russia's Kursk region are participating in the coordination of reconnaissance operations and assisting Russia in striking targets in Ukraine.

In January, North Korea reduced its arms supplies to Russia. Russian ships have visited the Korean port only once since the beginning of the year, although they previously did so at least three times a month.
