Yesterday afternoon, on October 28, an explosion occurred in a multi-story building in one of the districts of Khmelnytskyi. During the night, rescuers found the bodies of two people under the debris, according to the Telegram channel of the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Serhii Tyurin.

"During the night, information emerged about the possible presence of another person in the building. Unfortunately, we have tragic confirmations," the message reads.

According to Tyurin, as a result of the explosion in the building on Ternopilska Street, the bodies of two deceased individuals were found under the rubble:

  • At 02:24 Kyiv time, the body of a female citizen born in 1973 was found.
  • At 05:12 Kyiv time, the body of a male citizen born in 1983 was discovered.

The bodies have been sent for forensic examination to determine the cause of death. Investigations are also ongoing to establish the reasons behind the explosion.

The head of the Regional Military Administration reported that additional forces joined the debris-clearing efforts, including a team of high-altitude rescuers from the State Rescue Center and a special-purpose unit DELTA.

"Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing without interruption… All services continue to work in coordination, providing assistance and clearing the debris," Tyurin concluded.

Meanwhile, according to Suspilne, search and rescue operations had been completed by 7 a.m. Kyiv time.

Explosion in a residential building in Khmelnytskyi

Yesterday afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., an explosion occurred in one of the residential buildings in Khmelnytskyi. According to preliminary reports, it was caused by a domestic gas leak, which effectively destroyed three floors of the building.

Following the explosion, rescue teams began clearing the debris and carrying out emergency operations. Authorities also assessed the need to temporarily relocate residents and evaluated the risk of further structural collapse.
