US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg will meet with European officials in the coming days. The discussion will focus on security guarantees for Ukraine and European participation in peace talks, Bloomberg reports.

The administration of US President Donald Trump is exploring ways to strengthen security guarantees for Ukraine by involving its European allies in the process. The discussions focus on Europe's contribution to deterring Russia and the potential participation of EU forces in future peace agreements.

The US seeks to determine how willing European partners are to deploy their armed forces to maintain peace in Ukraine and what resources they can offer to strengthen Kyiv’s negotiating position.

Keith Kellogg, the US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, is set to meet with European officials in the coming days to discuss these issues. According to European diplomats, Kellogg is "seeking input from allies" before presenting options to the president.

The discussions have gained urgency after EU leaders were shocked by Trump’s intention to start negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A US-Russia meeting in Saudi Arabia is reportedly planned soon after.

European leaders risk being sidelined in a process that could significantly impact the continent’s future security balance. This week, a group of European politicians will convene in Paris to formulate a collective response to US actions.

Among the possible measures is a new major defense package for Ukraine. The UK has also expressed its readiness to support. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has pledged to send British peacekeeping troops to Ukraine if necessary for a settlement.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has urged European leaders to take defense strengthening seriously to effectively counter threats from Russia.

He stated that while Poland will not send its troops to Ukraine, it will provide logistical support to countries taking on a peacekeeping role.

The US is also increasing pressure on Russia, urging allies to supply additional equipment to Ukraine and more effectively enforce sanctions against Russia and its partners.

Additionally, the US wants to assess whether European countries could grant Ukraine greater market access if it continues its path toward EU membership.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on US envoy Keith Kellogg’s visit to Ukraine, noting that his trip will include a frontline visit and discussions on security guarantees.
