Kamala Harris arrives in Chicago to speak at Democratic convention
US Vice President Kamala Harris has arrived in Chicago ahead of her star turn at the Democratic National Convention, according to The Times of Israel.
Harris's upcoming speech may be the most crucial moment in her brief pre-election campaign against Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Notably, the Vice President has reinvigorated the Democratic Party after a remarkable month during which she overtook President Joe Biden at the top of the polls and edged out her rival Trump.
The Times of Israel also notes that on her way to Chicago, Harris made a stop in the critical swing state of Pennsylvania, where Trump won in 2016 and Biden in 2020. She then embarked on a one-day bus tour to keep on schedule.
Accompanied by her running mate Tim Walz, they traveled from Pittsburgh on a bus emblazoned with their names to several cities in the so-called Rust Belt. The trip aimed to engage working-class voters.
At the same time, Harris insists that Trump remains the frontrunner and that she will run an active campaign, with only 79 days remaining until the US presidential election on November 5.
"I very much consider us the underdog, we have a lot of work to do to earn the vote of the American people. That’s why we’re on this bus tour today," Harris told reporters in Pennsylvania.
It is expected that Kamala Harris will participate in two rounds of debates with her opponent, Donald Trump, with the first scheduled for September 10 on ABC News.
Earlier, it was reported that a feud between Trump and the governor of Georgia could impact election results in this key state.
