Russian intelligence has provided Iran with a detailed list of 55 energy infrastructure facilities in Israel. They are divided into three categories depending on their strategic importance, The Jerusalem Post reports.

According to the outlet, citing a source close to Ukrainian intelligence, the information allows Iran to carry out high-precision missile strikes on Israel’s energy network.

According to the data obtained, the targets are divided into three categories based on their strategic importance:

  1. Critically important production facilities. These are sites whose destruction would paralyze the national energy system. The report specifically names the Orot Rabin power station as the primary target.
  2. Major urban and industrial energy hubs. These facilities are located mainly in central Israel and supply power to large population centers.
  3. Local infrastructure. These include regional substations serving industrial zones and small power plants.

Potential consequences of an attack

The Russian assessment of Israel’s vulnerability is that, unlike many European countries, its energy system is highly isolated.

Since Israel does not import electricity from neighboring countries, Russian intelligence told Iran that damage to even several key components could trigger a complete and prolonged energy collapse. This is expected to cause widespread blackouts and technical disruptions.

What preceded it

Yesterday, April 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia had provided Tehran with satellite intelligence data on Israel’s energy system. According to him, this data helps Iran carry out strikes on Israel’s civilian infrastructure.

Zelenskyy also stressed that Russia is passing on to Iran all the experience it has gained during the war against Ukraine. As an example, he mentioned Shahed drones, which later became a common strike tool for Russian forces, but in modified versions.

The Washington Post recently reported that Moscow is also providing Tehran with information about the locations of US military facilities in the Middle East.
