Jordanian forces shoots down drone attempting to cross Jordanian border
Jordanian Armed Forces shot down a drone attempting to cross the country's territory, according to Reuters.
Local media did not specify the direction from which the drone was flying.
"The border guard forces ... shot it [drone] down and it was transferred to the specialized authorities," the local news agency Petra said citing an official source in the army's leadership.
The department also added, "We are dealing firmly with various threats on the kingdom's borders."
Incidents in Jordan
Jordan borders Syria and Iraq — countries with Iranian proxy forces. The country is also located near Israel and the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Notably, the announcement of the downing of an unknown drone came shortly after the Lebanese group Hezbollah accused Israel of detonating pagers across Lebanon. The operation resulted in at least eight deaths and approximately 3,000 injuries, including the Iranian ambassador in Beirut.
Recently, an armed Jordanian man killed three Israelis at the Allenby Bridge border crossing on the occupied West Bank before being shot by Israeli security forces.
