Hundreds of Hezbollah fighters injured in mass pager explosion - Media
In Lebanon today, September 17, Hezbollah fighters' pagers, which they use for communication, massively exploded. There are reports of a large number of injuries, according to Reuters and The Times of Israel.
According to a Reuters source, hundreds of Hezbollah fighters were injured in the incident. The explosions were heard both in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, and in the southern part of the country. They continued to sound even half an hour after the first detonations.
Lebanon’s Crisis Operations Center has called on all medical personnel to head to their hospitals to help manage the massive influx of injured individuals requiring emergency care.
According to The Times of Israel, Lebanese media are reporting that the explosions were caused by a hack of Hezbollah’s portable pagers, allegedly organized by Israel.
Lebanese journalists claim that over a thousand people were injured in the incident, with at least five in critical condition. There is no information on any fatalities at this time.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, may be among the injured.
Israeli officials have not yet commented on the incident.
