According to him, during a meeting with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, they agreed to strengthen defense cooperation.
"The key announcement: another military aid package from Italy is already on its way to Ukraine. This includes advanced weaponry that will help our service members deliver powerful blows to the enemy," Umerov noted.
Additionally, Ukraine and Italy have planned the launch of joint enterprises and other initiatives in the defense sector. For his part, Crosetto emphasized the importance of expanding the Ramstein format.
What weapons is Italy supplying?
Italian partners are supplying Ukraine with a wide range of weapons and equipment. In particular, they have provided Storm Shadow cruise missiles for strikes at distances of up to 300 km. Additionally, Italy, together with France, has supplied the SAMP-T anti-aircraft missile system, which is capable of shooting down ballistic missiles.
Also, it is known that Italy has supplied self-propelled artillery systems M109, anti-aircraft missiles, Spada and Skyguard systems, PzH-2000 howitzers, and multiple rocket launchers.
Earlier, during the Ramstein meetings, Ukraine asked Italy to supply missiles for air defense systems, as well as armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, as part of Italy's key role in the coalition of armored vehicles.
At the end of 2024, the government of Giorgia Meloni supported extending the permission to supply weapons and equipment to Ukraine.
