Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni criticized US President Donald Trump over his "unacceptable" remarks about Pope Leo XIV, according to CNN and Clash Report.
"I find President Trump’s words toward the Holy Father unacceptable. The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, and it is right and normal that he calls for peace and condemns all forms of war," Meloni said.
At the same time, the US President himself believes he has nothing to apologize for to the Pope.
"We believe in law and order, and he (Pope Leo - ed.) seems to have a problem with that. There is nothing to apologize for; he is wrong," Ttump said.

On the evening of Sunday, April 12, Donald Trump sharply criticized Pope Leo XIV, calling him "weak on crime" and "terrible for foreign policy."
The US President wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that he doesn’t "want a Pope who thinks it's it’s OK for Iran to have nuclear weapon." Trump also claimed credit for Leo’s election.
The pontiff has recently condemned the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and called on politicians to sit at the negotiating table.
In particular, on March 29, Leo XIV said that God rejects the prayers of leaders who start wars and have hands "full of blood." He added, citing the Bible, that Jesus does not hear the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them.
